Fluorine-Free Performance for Critical Environments
Cold Fire™:
Advanced Suppression for Lithium-Ion and High-Risk Fires
Fluorine-free suppression engineered to rapidly cool, encapsulate flammable vapours, and prevent re-ignition in lithium-ion and high-risk fire scenarios.
How Cold Fire Works
Cold Fire™ uses a triple-action mechanism combining rapid heat removal, vapour encapsulation, and combustion inhibition to suppress fire at its source and prevent re-ignition in high-energy environments.
Rapid Heat Removal
Cold Fire™ reduces surface and internal temperatures by improving water penetration and heat absorption at the fuel source. This helps interrupt thermal runaway and limits fire development in high-risk scenarios.
Vapour Encapsulation
Cold Fire™ forms micelles that encapsulate flammable vapours and smoke particles, preventing them from sustaining combustion and significantly reducing re-ignition risk.
Combustion Inhibition
Cold Fire™ interferes with the chemical chain reaction of fire, suppressing combustion at a molecular level and delivering a more complete extinguishing effect.
Together, these mechanisms deliver faster knockdown, deeper cooling, and a measurable reduction in re-ignition risk across high-energy and industrial fire scenarios.
Proven Across Multiple Fire Classes
Cold Fire™ is a proven suppression technology with decades of operational use across multiple fire classes, industries, and high-risk environments.
Lithium-Ion & Energy Storage
Effective in thermal runaway scenarios, providing rapid cooling, vapour suppression, and re-ignition control in battery systems and energy storage environments.

Supports deep penetration into organic materials such as vegetation, peat, and waste, improving containment and reducing flare-ups.
Military & Aviation
Applied in demanding operational environments where versatility, safety, and performance across multiple fire classes are essential.
Industrial & Hydrocarbon Fires
Effective on both polar and non-polar fuels, delivering improved control over Class A, B, and complex industrial fire risks.
Waste & Recycling Facilities
Improves penetration into deep-seated waste fires, supporting faster control, reduced water usage, and minimised re-ignition in high-load environments.
Marine & RoRo Applications
Applicable across marine environments including engine rooms, cargo decks, and RoRo vessels. Supports suppression, cooling, and vapour control for both conventional and electric vehicle fire risks in enclosed and high-density transport environments.
This extensive operational history underpins Cold Fire’s reliability in modern high-risk environments, from industrial hazards to lithium-ion battery systems and emerging energy technologies.
Water
Water provides cooling but has limited penetration into fuel sources and does not address flammable vapours, increasing the risk of re-ignition in high-energy fires.
Why Cold Fire Outperforms Traditional Agents
Traditional fire suppression methods often address only one aspect of fire behaviour. Cold Fire™ delivers a multi-mechanism approach combining rapid cooling, vapour suppression, and combustion inhibition to provide more complete and reliable fire control.
Foam (AFFF & Traditional)
Foams can suppress vapours on liquid fires but offer limited cooling performance and are increasingly restricted due to environmental and regulatory concerns.
Dry Powder
Dry powder can achieve rapid knockdown but provides no cooling effect, allowing heat to remain and significantly increasing the risk of re-ignition.
Cold Fire™ combines rapid heat removal, deep penetration, vapour encapsulation, and combustion inhibition in a single solution. This multi-action approach delivers faster knockdown, more effective cooling, and significantly reduced re-ignition risk across a wide range of fire classes.
Cold Fire™
Barrier-Based Agents
Barrier-based agents create a thermal insulation layer over the fuel surface. While effective in isolating heat, they do not actively remove heat or address flammable vapours within the fuel source.
Aerosol Systems
Aerosol systems suppress flames through chemical inhibition but do not provide cooling. Without heat removal, thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries can continue, leading to re-ignition or propagation.
Gas Suppression Systems
Gas suppression systems reduce oxygen or interrupt combustion in the surrounding atmosphere, but they do not cool battery cells. In lithium-ion scenarios, internal reactions can continue even after system discharge.
By addressing the full fire triangle simultaneously, Cold Fire™ provides a more complete and reliable approach to modern fire suppression.
Industry experience in energy storage systems has shown that suppression of visible flames alone does not prevent thermal runaway. Without active cooling and gas management, heat build-up and flammable gas accumulation can continue.
Cold Fire™ delivers measurable performance advantages across a wide range of fire scenarios, combining multiple suppression mechanisms into a single, highly effective solution.
Independently tested and certified across multiple international standards, including UL, NFPA, & third-party fire performance programmes.
Rapid Heat Reduction
Quickly reduces both surface and internal temperatures through enhanced heat absorption and penetration, helping interrupt fire development and thermal runaway at the source.
Deep Penetration
Improves water delivery into the fuel source, allowing effective cooling beneath the surface where heat is retained and re-ignition typically occurs.
Vapour Encapsulation
Encapsulates flammable vapours and smoke particles, reducing fuel availability and limiting fire spread while improving visibility.
Reduced Re-Ignition Risk
By removing heat and controlling vapours simultaneously, Cold Fire™ significantly reduces the likelihood of re-ignition across high-energy fire scenarios.
Lower Water Consumption
Enhances the effectiveness of water, enabling faster control with reduced overall usage and improved cooling efficiency compared to conventional methods.
Wide Fire Class Effectiveness
Tested and certified across multiple fire classes, including Class A, B, C (electrical), D metals, and Class F cooking oils, as well as lithium-ion battery fire scenarios.
PFAS-Free & Responsible
Fluorine-free, non-toxic, and biodegradable, supporting global PFAS phase-out requirements while maintaining high-performance fire suppression capability.

Additional certifications from Applus+, Bureau Veritas, and IMO support global acceptance, making Cold Fire™ suitable for integration into compliant, standards-based fire protection and engineering designs worldwide.
Lithium-Ion Fire Control
Cold Fire™ performs in lithium-ion thermal runaway scenarios by rapidly reducing temperature, interrupting fire propagation, and limiting re-ignition. It supports protection for battery systems, EV platforms, and energy storage installations, including use in energised environments where conventional suppression approaches may be less effective or operationally constrained.
Measured Cooling Performance
Independent testing has validated Cold Fire™ for rapid cooling from extreme heat conditions, with high rates of heat extraction and deep temperature reduction. By improving the effectiveness of water, it helps stabilise high-energy fire events and supports safer conditions for intervention, containment, and post-fire investigation activities.
Cold Fire™ delivers superior performance, environmental compliance, and a practical upgrade path for existing water-based fire protection systems.
Deep-Seated Fire Suppression
Cold Fire™ reduces surface tension and improves water delivery into porous and compacted fuels such as waste, tyres, and recyclables. This enables suppression below the surface layer, reduces hidden fire paths, and decreases re-ignition risk in deep-seated fire scenarios that are difficult to control using water alone.
